My grand-mother was Peninah Catherine Ihinger (1836-1915). She was born in Ohio and married Daniel Stainbrook(Steinbrook)in Muskingum County in 1852. I have no information on the Ihinger family. Can other researchers supply me with any information about the family or a clue that may take me to a source.

Hello,
My great-grandfather Aaron, was the youngest brother of Penina Catherine(Paulina)
Ihinger. There is refernce to her family in the 1850 census of Muskingum Co. Brush Creek Twnsp. Her father was John, mother Penina M.,
siblings Daniel, Martha Jane, Adam D., Moses,
Lewis C., George M. The 1860 census adds
twins Elizabeth and Aaron, my grandfather.
Maybe you can help me check out if their
mother listed as Margaret in 1860 is the
same person as Pernina M. in 1850. I'm
guessing that they are, as they are the same
age, both born in PA as was John, Pernina
C.'s father. This is as far as I have tracked them but I am working on it. Do you
have info on Daniel's ancestors. He is
related to my husband's side of the family.

From the information you have provided, I now know 1000 percent more about my grandmother. Thank you very much.

I have the 1850 census of Muskingum County but not the 1860. But I can of course get it on loan.

Regarding the family of Daniel Stainbrook, Penina Catherine's husband. He was born in Brush Creek Tsp., Muskingum Co., Ohio on April 25, 1828 and died in Mound Valley, Labette Co., Kansas June 9, 1885. His father and mother were Abraham Stainbrook and Sarah Weller. Daniel's siblings were Sarah, John S., Henry, Jacob Fosteria, Eli, Margaret, Peter, William, NOah, and Susannah.

I can furnish you with more detailed information if you contact me at djsjah@capecod.net

Hello Daniel,
I've uncovered the name of Pernina
Catherine (Paulina) Ihinger Stainbrook's paternal grandfather. His name is Christopher Ihinger.
He is listed in the VA census of 1810 and
1820. I sent for a deed from Richland Co
OH and it names John as the son of the late
Christopher Ihinger. Did you know this? I
see you check in on the Ashford/Ihinger site.
