Hi everybody.

My name is Nicola and I am one of 4 children of Gordon Ierston (married to Mary). My grandfathers name was Cyril and he was married to Mary and lived in North Wales. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters, Derek, Gordon and Ronnie and Margaret and Iris.

I have been in touch with Sharon Ierston from Australia but unfortunately lost touch due to a change of email address.

Does anybody have any idea where our surname actually comes from?

Speak to you soon,
Nicola

Dear Nicola,
Hi, I'm John Ierston from Chester
Just noticed your message from last March!
I suspect your grandfather Cyril might be a son of Charles Joseph Ierston. Charles was born in 1866 and married Sarah ( don't know the date ). Their children were: Vernon, Veda, Trissie, Iris,Nellie, Cyril, Marjorie - do any of these names mean anything to you? If so, I will send you the little information I know. There were 8 other siblings as well as Charles - my grandfather Bernard was the youngest. I've got some of the family history from Charles' generation (& immediate offspring) back to 1812 but have not been able to go further back. If you think the above is relevant, let me know and I'll send you what I've got.
Regards
John

Hi Nicole,
My new email address is sharon_n_cox@hotmail.com
I have looked no further into our tree as one of my 1st cousin's in England took up the challenge and it was much easier for her there in England than me in Australia to work it all out.

If you want me to pass on your email details to her, just send them to me and I'll pass it down grape vine for you.

All the best and hope you are well.

Sharon
