Hi - I'm an Ierardi by marriage, researching my husband's family. Filomena (Comito) Ierardi and Rosario Ierardi were married in 1913. Rosario Ierardi was naturalized on 10/5/1925. His father's name was Francesco and I think his grandfather was Rosario.
Rosario & Filomena owned an Italian grocery store at 523 Park Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. and lived on the third floor of the building. Children were Frank (Francesco), John (Giovanni)Nat (Natali) & Mary

To Sam Yerardi:
I hope the years allow you to still receive this message. My grandfather was Rafaelle Gerardi here in the USA but I recently found out by going to Petilia Policastro that the true family name was Ierardi. My great grandfather was Dominico Ierardi and great grandmother was Francesca Grano.
My grandfather came over the first time to Williamson, WV about 1898 and finally brought the family over by December of 1913. I visited Petilia Policastro 2 years ago and the town is about 50% Ierardi. We plan to travel back next year and spend more time. I used the NIAF to help me with records and translations because of the dialects but it was a wonderful experience! Ciao

I have the civil records from my ancestral village of Armento in southern Italy from 1809 - 1910 and there were many Ierardis. They married into my family, the Catoggios, numerous times. I have info on the Ierardis in the Armento area, but not familiar with the town you mention. I think I recall one Ierardi was the mayor of Armento for awhile. If you are on Facebook, there are some Ierardis you could contact. Let me know if you establish a connection to the Armento line. Wendy Harper Orlando

I just saw your post from 2002. I am also descended from the town of Armento. My ancestors, the Catoggios, married Ierardis and Villones many times,so you and I are probably related. If you want to compare info, let me know. I have all the civil records from Armento 1809 - 1910 and would be happy to do lookups.

Your grandmother was probably from Armento. If you are still researching this line and can give me her name and date of birth, I would be happy to see what I can find for you.
