I'm trying to find info on my grandfather's family. His name was Rocco Ieraci and he came to the US from Grotteria in Calabria back in 1920. Ship records show him going to stay with a cousin Francesco Ieraci in Utica. My grandfather was always very silent about his family and I haven't an idea of brothers, sisters, parents etc. He was born around 1897 and I think he had a brother in NYC (maybe Brooklyn). He spent most of his life in Pittsburgh, PA. Any info is appreciated.

Hi joe my name is sandra elliott. My grandfathers name was also Rocco Ieraci. He was born in calibria in the 1920s. I payed particular attention to what you wrote as i am now 29 but when i was a child i remember some relatives from america coming over to see us. I also stil have a base ball card that they gave me with their daughter on it. It was called utica blue socks. Also a news paper clipping he sent me of himself his wife( i think called alice) and his daughter taken outside his resturant. Please contact me if you think there might be some connection Thank you

Hi Sandra,
Thanks for the response. It definitely could be the same family but my grandfather came over earlier. His wife's name was Lucy. I know that he had only 3 sons. I've been trying to find out if my grandfather had any siblings, as I don't know of any. Of course, being Italian, I'm sure he had lots!
Thanks again

My grandfather was your grandfather's brother then, Joe. My dad is Joe's son Frank. We all still live here in Tyrone. I have met your grandfather a few times when he'd be in town (when I was younger).

How exciting! I've never met a single one of my grandfather's family members except for his nephew Paul ... and I'm not even sure who Paul's father was! Anything you can tell me about the Ieraci family? Pictures you could share?
I recently noticed in my research that a good deal of Ieraci's from the area our family emigrated from ended up in Australia. Wonder if we're related to any of them ...

Yeah, Paul is my dad's brother. He's the youngest child. I have a few pictures for you. One is of my dad and Uncle Paul, one of Aunt Connie (Concetta) my dad's sister, one of my whole family including my parents, brother/sisters, nephew and 2 brother-in-laws taken at my wedding in October. I also included one of Uncle Tony Ieraci's kids (well 3 or the 4 - Sandy, Liz and Phil). I have the pictures labeled. Tried attaching them here but it seems to give a error.
I got a book from amazon.com called the History of the Ieraci name and it mentioned Austrailia.
