Thadius Hampton Idol (or as he spelled it later in life IDYLE) was also my great grandfather and his second wife Maude Hoskins Idyle was my great grandmother. His WWI Draft Registration Card says his name is IDOL and he registered in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1918. By the 1920 Census of Bell County KY he is living in Pineville with his family. We believe he may have left Cincinnati to avoid the WWI draft because he was of an age to be drafted. He was born 4-5-1884, not sure where.
On a family group sheet I have Sarah Idol being called "Boots". I have a ton of information about Thad and Maude Idyle and their descendent's and am willing to share if anyone needs it.
I knew Thad well; he died in 1969 in Bell County KY. He always said he was from Erlanger, KY, however, I have not been able to verify that. When I was a child, his sister visited him in KY from Ohio or someplace up north and she was a registered nurse. I can't remember her name, it may have been Constance or something similar.
I have not heard the story of him being in the circus, but would not put it past him. He was a CHARACTER!
