Hi Vince, I am also of the opinion that Iddon is a Viking name. I read a book on name origins in the mid seventies which said it means "suitable". However I have recently heard a different story: Some say that the name comes from the lords of the manor in the village of Iden in East Sussex. I visited there last year and the people in the village shop say that a number of Iddons have visited there before for the same reason.
