Bob, thanks for the info.
I have seen the census data on Ancestry, and has been very helpful.
Unfortunately, i can't find any specific census data or other records that conclusively documents Joseph Bing as being John Bing's father. Some assumptions could probably be made by the 1850 census which shows that a their families lived in separate households, probably next door. But there is no documented parent/child relationship that I can find. All census data prior to 1850 is simply "tally" type data counting ages, but providing no specific names.
What I (and my late cousin John Bing--lots of John Bing's!!) have been trying to find is a documented link to John Bing's father. Joseph Bing seems the most likely, but then his trail dries up. Some family trees link John Bing to a John Bing married to an Elizabeth Clendenin. If that can be proved, then it could possibly link me all the way back through a reasonably documented Bing/Byng line to Wrotham England in the 13th century. Unfortunately, things seem to dry up past by 2nd Great Grandfather John Bing.
Anyway, thank you so much for your input!! THis has been a fun ride!
