Hi
Thanks for your reply, I too have found it very difficult because of the variation in names after a certain point, I can only presume that is is due to illiteracy going back to the 16th/17th century.
Because of the closeness in location and name I am sure we can assume there are links there.
I have traced back a direct line through my family to a Anne Edeson but her I am stuck because I do not know her maiden name or the first name of the man she married. I do know that she was born around 1794 in North Yorkshire and in 1881 she was living in Dringhouses with her son James who was born in 1833 also in Yorkshire. I do not know if she had other children.
Her son James Edeson went south and married a girl from Hampshire, they had 7 children, the eldest born in Froxfield, the next on the Isle of Wight (she married twice and went to live in Yorkshire and had several children with the surname Ogram). The third child,Anne was born in Alvesthorpe in Yorkshire and worked in York as a young woman. Thomas, Richard (my Great Grand Father) were also born in Alvesthorpe and the youngest son Norman was born in Leicester where the family line carries on.
There is also mention of Wakefield too.
I know even in my immediate family the pronunciation of the name varies but I would appreciate any info that can verify any links.
Regards
Yvonne
