Hi
I found your site by typing in Icenhour in Yahoo's search engine. I'm glad to have found you.
I to have grandparents from Lenoir, NC
My grandpa's name is Maynard "Bill" Gwyn Icenhour and his wife is Ramona Icenhour. Ramona's last name remain the same (Icenhour) after she married Bill because she and Bill were third cousins.
Bill's parents were John Gwyn Icenhour and mother Mishie Beach. John and Mishie had 7 children they were...
Jewel Delina, Bill Gwyn, Ruth Evelyn, Faye Lenoir, Mary Dean, Oscar Boyd and Jack.
I don't know anything right now from Ramona's side of the family.

Do you have any connection?
Please let me know.
Thank you, Melissa Icenhour

Greetings,

Troy Ransom Icenhour is my great-great uncle. My great grandmother is his older sister Lillie Belle Icenhour Pennell. I don't have much information on the Icenhour side of the family, but I will share what I do have.

Avery Columbus b. Dec. 23, 1860 d. 1938. He married Nancy Lucinda "Lucy" Barlow Jan. 31, 1894. She was born April 10, 1869 and died in1943. Both are buried in the Kings Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Lucy is the daughter of Horton Barlow and Nancy Maltba.

The parents of Avery Columbus are David L. Icenhour and Mary Ann Mcalpine. David died in 1874. Mary was born in1841 and died in 1908. She also buried in the Kings Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

As a child I remember visiting with Aunt Virgie and Aunt Jessie when in Lenior. I can see her rocking on her porch right now. She was very kind.

I hope this information is helpful.

Best Wishes,
Lisa

Troy Ransom Icenhour and his wife Virgie were my grandparents. My home is built on a parcel of property that my grandfather inherited from his father Avery Icenhour and was given to me by my grandmother Vergie. I have lived in Kings Creek most of my life and recently I have done a good bit of research on my great-great grandfather David Icenhour.

To my knowledge there are no records of his death or where he may be buried. After extensively studying records that are available for any David Icenhour, each have been determined not to be him for one reason or another. Records on a David L Icenhour have been looked at quite a bit and have been discounted as the correct David. If you have any information that would prove that to be wrong I would greatly appreciate seeing it. No one in the family has any information at all as to a year of his death and any info that proves a year of 1874 would be very helpful as well.

No one in our family has any rock solid information on him and with the passing of my grandmother Virgie in 2001 there isn't anyone to talk to that I know of anymore. I recently found the graves of Davids parents Phillip and Mary at the Union Baptist Church cemetery. Here is a link to Phillips site at Find A Grave. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=52...

At the above link you can then link to info on David and from there to his son Avery and from Avery you can link to my grandfather Troy and so on. Hope this is helpful!
