Thanks to "cassiespups" I now have some more info on the children of Johann Andreas Ibs (b.Aug.21, 1803) and Margaretha "Gretje" / "Grete" Kruse (d. Another name for Johann was Johann Ibs.
- Jürgen Heinrich Ibs was born on 17 Dec 1849.(1). Another name for Jürgen was Heinrich Ibs.
- Ida Mathilde Auguste Ibs was born on 23 Oct 1853. Another name for Ida was Ida Ibs.
- Antje Catharina Ibs was born after 1854 in Klein Offenseth.
- Charlotte Henriette Ibs was born after 1854 in Klein Offenseth. Another name for Charlotte was Lotte Ibs.
- Wihelmine Margarethe Ibs was born after 1854 in Klein Offenseth. Another name for Wihelmine was Minna Ibs.
- Jacob Ibs."

According to my great-grandfather, all girls emigrated to "America", see also my initial entry in this thread.

Gudrun von Kowalski

Hello, "cassiespups"!

Yes, that must be them! They are not my direct ancestors, Margaretha Kruse was just the aunt of my great-grandfather, but I am curious to know what happened to their descendants. I don't have much about the Ibs, but some material about the Kruse side. Are you related to both? Anyway, I will contact you via Yahoo (pls. check also your spam filter, Yahoo sometimes puts my emails in there).

Best regards, Gudrun

Hi! Thanks for sharing your data. Unfortunately, I do not see any connection (yet), but I do not have too much info on the Ibs family. The name Ibs is not really a seldom name, especially in the Dithmarschen region of the state of Schleswig-Holstein (in the north of Germany). Sorry I can't help you further at this point.
IBS from Kannemoor / Dithmarschen (Germany)

I inherited some handwritten notes from my great-grandfather, the German teacher and author Johannes KRUSE and his brother Otto KRUSE. More that 70 years ago they wrote down what they knew about their family history. Their aunt Gretje KRUSE (also: Margaretha KRUSE, called "the aunt with the glasses") was married to Johann Andreas IBS. Gretje died Feb. 9, 1891. Both the KRUSE and the IBS families came from Dithmarschen (Schleswig-Holstein, Germany). Andreas Ibs came from Kannemoor (Kannemoorfeld). Gretje and Andreas owned a farm close to Elmshorn, later they lived in Klein-Offenseth and Trennewurtherdeich. They had four sons and three daughters: Heinrich IBS, Johann IBS, Claus IBS, Jacob IBS, Lotte IBS, Ida IBS and Minna IBS. According to the notes all the boys went to Hamburg where they became butchers, and all the girls emigrated to "America". The youngest daughter, Minna IBS, married a Mr. Armstrong. I don't have too much info about the IBS family, I do have quite some about the KRUSE part. Just in case this might help somebody... Best regards, Gudrun von Kowalski
