I don't have much information to go on but I am going to take a shot in the dark and see if any of you wonderful researchers can possibly help me find any of these people from the Emden area. Their descendants are of the Lutheran faith so I am taking a leap of faith that they were also.
I am looking for information on EBE IBEN / EBEN and his wife, ALICE REINDERS. They would both have been born between 1800-1820. The only location info I have for them is from a photo which says the photographer was from Emden. I know 3 of their children's names.
1. RICHARD EBEN b. 27 Apr 1854 in Ostfriesland d. 23 Mar 1937 in Rooks Creek Twp., Livingston Co., Illinois
2. SCHWANTJE EBEN (Swanetta) b 1845 in Ostfriesland d. 1920 in Miner Co. South Dakota
3. MINNIE EBEN born in Ostfriesand. She married in the US and moved to Rockford Illinois.
I know that Richard emmigrated around 1880 but his sister Schwantje and her children came a few years later.
I am also interested in the husband of Schwantje, BERTUS SMIDT. Apparently he died in Ostfriesland as I can find no record of him being in the US. Schwantje and Bertus had 2 children:
1. IBE BERTUS SMIDT b.13 Feb 1871 in Ostfriesland d. 24 Aug 1939 in Nebraska Twp., Livingston Co., Illinois after farming for years in Miner Co., South Dakota. He never married.
2. ANTJE (Anna) BERTHA SMIDT b. 3 Jan 1881 in Ostfriesland d. 1 Jun 1950 in Flanagan, Livingston Co., Illinois. She married ALBERT WIECHMANN b 25 Jan 1877 in Nebraska Twp., Livingston Co., Illinois d. 30 Apr 1941. His parents were from the Strackholt/Simonswolde (maternal surname VAN WESTEN) areas respectively and I have found their info in both those OSB's.
Maybe someone will recognize this info.
