My last name is Ibarra I'm trying to do a family tree. As far as I know the last name is from Spain. And in Ecuador their is the city of Ibarra named after a priest from Spain.

Hello,

My Grandmother Angela Ibarra was from San Nicolas de Ibarra. She married, Ramon Castellanos. He died about 1914 just before my mother was born of TB. From what I understand, Angela's father or grandfather received a grant from the King of Spain for land in the area and created a ranch there. (This is from heresay)
My Grandmother Angela moved to Chapala with her daughters, Concha, Josephine, Carmen, Lupe and Ramona, my mother.
About 1958 we visited my great aunt, Concha who had a house in Chapala. I believe her daughter, Angela was still living with her at that time and suffered from Epilepsy. I don't know anything else about who else might have been my aunt's children. I do know she wanted my parents to move there and take over her estate before she died. My parents decided not to move.
My grandmother, Angela moved from Chapala to the United States in 1924 and lived in Los Angeles until she died in 1941.

I don't know that this helps, and I don't know that we might be related. To contact me, please send an email to dcombs100@gmail.com.
