Hi Liza,

I think I am your third cousin once removed. Your great-grandmother Christina was a sister of my great-grandmother Martha Elisabeth Iba. I think Dee is my 2nd cousin once removed.

Not sure if this will help, but: there are a lot of "Ehmann" names in the cemetery with my Schaefer ancestors. I wonder if Ehmann and Amann are the same, different versions of the same name, perhaps.

Here are some names and dates that might help, but I don't know how all these are interconnected. In some cases I am using the burial date to figure out the date of death and so it's possible there are dates off by one year if death occurred late in the year and burial after the new year. Also for birth dates in a couple cases might be off a year.

1893 - death of George J. Iba (died as a child, one year old)
1895 - death of Eugene Schaefer (age 31)
1901 - death of Elizabeth Iba (age 77)
1904 - death of Jacob Iba (age 37)
1910 - death of Joseph Schaefer (died as a child, one month old)
1911 - death of Eugene Schaefer (died as a child, 3 years old)
1915 - death of William Schaefer (died as a child, one month old)
1916 - death of John J. Schaefer (died as a child, one year old)
1928 - death of Edward A. Ehmann (died as a child, two years old)
1932 - death of Edward A. Ehmann (age 33)
1933 - death of Margaret Schaefer (age 45)
1934 - death of Anna Schaefer (died as a child, 15 years old)
1937 - death of Mary Iba (age 81)
1938 - death of Margaret Ehmann (age 37)
1942 - death of Elizabeth Iba (age 71)
1943 - birth of Audrey Linda Tassone (parents Audrey Schaefer/Joseph Tassone)
1945 - birth of Joseph Tassone, Jr. (parents Audrey Schaefer/Joseph Tassone)
1946 - death of Martha Schaefer (age 82)
1948 - death of Joseph Schaefer
1949 - birth of Thomas Tassone (parents Audrey Schaefer/Joseph Tassone)
1965 - marriage of Audrey Linda Tassone to John Millard Grenfell
1971 - birth of Tamarleigh Grenfell (parents A. Linda Tassone/John M. Grenfell)
1972 - death of Eugene Schaefer
1974 - birth of Tallessyn Z. Grenfell and Trelawney J. Grenfell (parents A. Linda Tassone/John M. Grenfell)
1999 - death of Audrey Schaefer (Tassone)
2000 - death of Joseph Tassone

I hope this is helpful! :-) I am trying to put together a family tree also, but I don't have anything farther back than Eugene's parents being Joseph and Susanna (which I learned from Dee on this board).

Hi Tamarleigh,

This is Dee. You responded to Liza's post but sent it to me. Most of the information that you have I have also researched and have birth, marriage and death certificats for many of the people. I also have the Iba family back to the late 1700s. None for your direct family except for those that are connected to me through my mother (Iba & Schaefer) Right now I can't remember if we exchanged info, but I know we didn't exchange photos. I am interested in obtaining some for anyone listed in your other letter that I don't have.

Can you tell me when or where the marriage of Eugene and Alice took place?

I had been in touch with Liza several years ago, but she never got back with me regarding the information and photos she had. I'll let you know if I do ever hear from her.

I've been trying to put my info online, but just haven't gotten to do it yet.

You can e-mail me at: lookingback45@centurylink.net.

Hi Dee,

I actually have it already in an email to you that I was also going to send you, but then I was pressed for time and wanted to say something nice and not just send you this list of stuff you probably already knew--but then the whole day went by and here it is night and I didn't even send it yet. Sorry! lol

Anyway - we are still working on sorting through my mom's stuff. I am sure we will find some great pictures in there, but we are kind of saving stuff like pictures and jewelry for last, because the sorting is so difficult (logistically and emotionally) that it's at least something to look forward to! But it would be great to do some kind of family album online or something. I will email you, I promise! :-)

Tamarleigh

P.S. I don't know 100 percent when Gene and Alice were married, but I believe it was in the year 1921.

Thanks. I still haven't been able to find anything on their marriage....I guess they didn't have to get married locally. Did your mom ever call Alice "Ella" when she woule talk about her? That's what my mom always called her.
She always called Eugene "Uncle Hans."

No, I never heard of Alice being called "Ella" or Gene being called "Hans". Weird. Maybe my uncle Butch would know. I will ask him next time I see him. :-)
