I am researching my husband's family. His great grandfather Loreto Iacono came over from d'Ischia about 1901. Family story is that there was a fire on the boat he was originally on and he ended up stowing away on another bound for the US. Lost his papers and all belonging, etc. Somehow ended up outside of Philadelphia with the last name Eagono? Don't know how much is true and how much is embellished. Do know that we Eagono's of Pennsylvania are the only Eagono's in the who wide world. Loreto's father was Leonardo Iacono and his mother was Jennie Guarriciano. Loreto married Restitutta Migliaccio from Naples and settled in the Philadelphia suburbs. They had 8 children that lived past infancy and of these 8 - 3 died in their early 20's from TB. Any help on this branch would be appreciated. I still want to contact the Catholic church where they are buried and see it I can find any further records.
