To answer your question regarding, meaning of the name Iacona. The closest i was able to come its meaning i found in the" Cassell's Italian To English Dictionary" Publishing companies are "Cassell and Company Limited" of London" and Macmillan Publishing Co.,Inc. of New York. The spelling I found is Icona and Icone,n,f,(eccles,) Ikon, image: I trust this is close enough to suspect its origin. I have no knowledge of my fathers background only of my mothers. Her maiden name was Triglia. My parents were married in Ravanusa, which is a short distance north of Licata. My father was born in 1889 and came to America in 1921. Returned to Sicily in 1924. Married and returned to America. Although my father spoke English my mother never did . As a result my mother spoke to us children in Sicilian. So we learned conversational Sicilian. Sorry i can not help you any further as you can see I know little of my fathers background. I wish you luck in your continued search. It looks like the Iacona's migrated all over Sicily. Bono Fortuna.
