I am searching for anybody who has the surname Iacobucci (from Busso in Campobasso/Molise) in their background. Specifically, The children of Michele Iacobucci (b 1811) and Maria G Sebastiano (b 1816)who were: Giovanni (1847-????), Antonia F.(1850-????), Filomena (1855-1943).

To David Heathcott Dear David, My Grandfather was Angelo Iacobucci from Busso. He came to America when he was approximately 13 years old with his father, Giovanni. I have a birthdate of 1853 for Giovanni and 1882 for Angelo. I know this does not match the one you listed for Giovanni of 1847. Giovanni's father, however, was named Michael,(No birth date)and his mother was Josephine Delcioppo. Someone in my family compiled this family tree, and I'm not sure where she got the information. There could be errors. I do think there is a connection, though, since there are so many similarities, and they were all from Busso. Perhaps they were cousins. My Greatgrandfather (Giovanni),was a brick mason, and came to this country with his son to earn money to send for the rest of the family, which he did. I am presently looking for the name of the ship and the port of entry into the United States. I think Giovanni must have had brothers and sisters, but I have none of this information. I have been told that someone in our family went to Italy years ago and found Church records and even the family home. I don't know if this is true----I was too little to remember and it was too long ago. Anyone in my family who would have good information is now disceased. I keep asking, though!!

Hi Paula I went back to my original message and found that I had entered Giovanni's birth date incorrectly - it was May 11, 1852, not 1847. The Giovanni born in 1847 died as a baby. We do have somet very interesting similarities in this area. Giovanni arrived in this country May 09, 1899 accompanied by "son Angelo, age 16". Turns out, according to the Iacobucci part of the family in Cleveland, that the real name was "Michele Angelo". Up to that point I was sure that Giovanni and his wife, Maria Notartomaso, had a son Angelo, born about 1882, in addition to a son named Michele. If you send me your E-Mail address, I will send you some more detail. Dave heathde@krlynk.com

Dear David, This is interesting---according to Ancestry World Tree Search, the mother of Giovanni was not Josephine Delcioppo (my information), but rather Maria Sebastiano as you said. How are you related? Are we cousins? You have provided me with the names of my greatgrandfathers two siblings! Thank you!

Hi again Paula I'm not sure yet we are talking about the same Giovanni Iacobucci. Can you tell me more about your Giovanni? The data you see on World Ancestry Tree is my data. You can also find it on Rootsweb and the LDS database. Send me an E-Mail message so we can avoid using this small screen for messages. Dave heathde@krlynk.com

I also have connections to Michele Iacobucci. (Michele is the Italian version of Michael, most names were Americanized once they immigrated.) I also had family information that said his wife was Josephine Delcioppo. Someone else in my family got this information, and I have not yet been able to verify it. Michele is my great great great great grandfather, Giovanni is my great great great grandfather. Giovanni's son Angelo Michele is my great great grandfather, and his son John is my great grandfather.
Giovanni's siblings are Antonia, Filomena, and Giovanni (who died in 1847)
Please let me know if you all have any other information or if I can be of more help!

Hi Paula, This is your cousin Toni's daughter, Monica. Did you and David Heathcott ever figure out who Giovanni Iacobucci's mother was? I have been working under the assumption that it was Maria Sebastiono, but I got that from David only. Has that been independently confirmed? Or might it have been Josephine Delcioppo? If you have not confirmed it, perhaps I could see if Lakeview Cemetery has a record on Giovanni with his parents' names. They've been very helpful there. BYW, marriage records for the city of Palermo 1820-1895 have been scanned and are available online. I now have a marriage date for Natale Zangara and Rosaria Scalici as well as names of their parents and grandparents. Please email me if you'd like this information monicaholland@verizon.net. Best, Monica
