Even though my last name is Iacovacci. My grandfather
was also from Naples. My grandfather has told me that I
have many relatives who began spelling our last name
differently when they arrived at the turn of the century.
He said the main spellings where iacovacci, iacobacci and
yacovacci......Have you done a family tree. Last year
i went to England and looked for the family crest. I was told
it was one of the oldest they had ever seen.
The crest was the same for iacovacci and iacobacci. the date
was early 1500s

Mike,

I wrote to Nick Iacobacci regarding my relatives and he gave me some good suggestions in locating my family tree. I am also from the Boston area. My grandfather is Pietro Iacobacci. He changed his name later in life to Peter Bacci. He came from the Abruzze region, L'Aquila province, town called Carrito. He emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts and his brother, Sisto emigrated to Brooklyn, New York. My grandfather started out in the North End and then moved to East Boston. Later in life he moved to Roslindale. He also had four children - Domenic (Saugus), Tom (Medford), Paul (Milton), and Winifred (Norwood). Also, I know he had cousins in the Massachusetts area. I believe there was Tony from Lawrence and John in Haverhill. Pietro and Sisto's fathers name was Donmenico. Pietro and Sisto were born in the 1890's. I have asked my mother for dates and places. I know he came from a big family with lots of uncles and cousins. His uncles included:

Pasqulae - he had a son - Gionvolici/grandson - Aldo
John - he had a son - Edmund, daughter - Elvira
Luce (Luke) - he had two sons - Pietro and Nicolo
Luigi - he had three sons- Tony, Quintini, Allegheri, daughter - Laura
Mediucco - he had a son -Ernesto

Domenico married Pasqua Asci and she was from Cesire, Italy. She had two brothers, Frank and Paolo.

Is my family related to yours?
