This thread is truly fascinating. I am Gretchen the dauter-in-law of the late Guido Jaccino. Martha and John were at my wedding to Michael and were the closest relatives to Guido and his wife Loree. She knew Dottie and Mimi also. Guido was called "Tom" after serving in WWll, and being the youngest, having been put in an orphanage before he was a year old, he knew very little of what went on. He told us his mother was pushed down the stairs by Rocco, but I cannot believe it was on purpose. What man would kill the woman who took care of him and 10+ kids? It may be true that they were arguing, but I seriously doubt it was deliberate and as far as I know, no charges were pressed. In the 1920 Census, he was loving as a widower with 5 of the oldest kids. The 4 younger boys were in the orphanage, but I cannot find where the 4 yr old sister, Mary was. Possibly with friends or family, or in an orphanage with other girls. Years later she is living with Rocco and a couple of the siblings in the Bronx. We got the death certificate for Margarite, and that was the first time we knew she was pregnant when she died. I believe she was not full term, unless she became pregnant within 2 months after Guido was born (10/30/191 7)..... She died 9/1918, I believe. Mimi and Dottie were about 11 and 13 when john and Martha married. It is so great to learn more about all of this. I am with Melissa, let's get a reunion going! Colin had a blast with Helena and Melissa when he visited NY in the fall of 2013. I have information and more pictures to post and I am sure you all do, too. Ciao
