Hi, I'm interested in learning more about the Hyink tree. Please E-mail me when you have a chance. My father is Benjamin Paul Hyink, my grandfather's name is Byron Burwood Hyink, my Great-Grand father's name was Ben Hyink (the only police officer in Palos Park, IL in his time), and my Great-great grandfather's (who left Winterswijk, Holland at the age of 2) name was William Hyink.
I actually visited Holland last year (Mar. '01) in a field studies class. I met Ab and Riki Wamelink (cousins 5 or 6 times removed) and toured the house my Great-great Grandfather was born in. The farm covered only an acre of land, on which potatoes were grown. The family ground meal for money. There was a small communal room with a brick floor where they lived, ate and worked. in a space hardly bigger than a closet beds were stacked. To the side was one wooden floored room used only on Sundays to entertain guests. The back half of the house sheltered the families goats and cow.
I would love to receive more information on the Hyink family when you get a chance.
