There was an Absalom Hyer, born 30 March 1796 who was living in or near Stewart County, Tennessee in 1819, when his presumed mother Elizabeth Hyer gave a deposition in a court case involving Absalom's guardian, Elisha Willis. The deposition by Elizabeth is the source of Absalom's birth date. At the time of the court case, Elizabeth Hyer lived in adjacent Montgomery County, and the case originated in adjacent Humphreys County Court [Stewart County Archives, Circuit Court Loose Records, case file Elisha Willis, guardian of Absolam Hyer, vs Samuel Curtis].
Elizabeth Hyer was the widow of a Frederick Hyer who died in 1810 in Stewart County. Frederick Hyer's estate was administered by his widow and by Burrell M. Williamson. [Stewart County Court Minutes, 6 August 1810].
On 6 November 1820, Stewart Co. Justice of the Peace Benjamin Kelly issued a judgment in favor of Lewis Hyer against Burwell M. Williamson and wife Evanna, Samuel Hyer, Alexander McGinty & wife Eliza and Absalom Hyer, heirs at law of Frederick Hyer, in the amount of $63.285 plus $1.75 [Stewart County Court Minutes, 7 November 1820]
