I just came across your message from last month. Joe Boyd of Lafayette, Indiana, did an extensive genealogy of the entire Hybarger family about twenty years ago. I'll dig out my copy and see what I can find on your end of the family. I'm descended from John, who moved to Indiana along with one of the other brothers in the 1820s.

I've checked Joe Boyd's book. He shows two David Highbargers, father and son, the first born during the 1750s (probably to Conrad Hayberger) and the second during the 1770s. That branch of the family was from Sharpsburg, Maryland, and had apparently been there for at least a generation. The younger David's children included John (my 3xgreat grandfather), Polly, David, Jacob, Sally, Joseph, Isaac, Absolum, Abraham (whom you mention), and Elizabeth. The children all seem to have used the Hybarger spelling. One of the original Davids--probably the younger--purchased 100 acres of land in Greene Co. in November 1809. His son John moved to Fountain County, Indiana, with some others from Greene County in 1827. Abraham followed about six years later. Margaret Gass's father was among those who moved to Fountain County, and that is where Abraham met her. They married in 1839 and moved to Illinois about three years later. I don't know how much of that you have, but I hope I've added a little bit.

Nancy Hybarger (Stephanie)
I thought I had a line on all the Indiana Hybargers, but you've got me stumped on this one. I know of Nancys in Tennessee, Iowa, and Texas, but none here. Could you give me a bit more information--approximate dates or anything else I could go on? Joe Boyd in Lafayette, Indiana, may have something I don't, but I don't have an email address for him.
