I am sorry to admit that I do not know very much about my father's family. My father's name is Leory Douglas Hyatt. His father was David Hyatt Sr. and David's wife was Maggie McKinney or McKinnie. I believe that my grandfather was born in Georgetown SC??? but not real sure. My father lived most of his life in Augusta Georgia. I am updating this post since I have not checked back into it since I posted (SORRY!). There are still Hyatt's in Augusta GA (I am one of them, but hard to find anyone who knows much.) My email address is still the same. snowchild4evr@aol.com
Thanks!

Kristy, I am looking for John David Hyatt born approx 1937 in South Carolina. Does the age match your David Hyatt Sr?

I am descended from Isaac Hyatt and Zilpha Charles Evans who were from Marion SC but were living in Floyd Co GA in 1860. What children they had that survived mostly lived and died in Floyd Co.
As far as I can determine, all other Hyatt/Hiett's in Georgia in 1860 were from North Carolina, mostly children of Allen Alsae Hyatt or Shadrack Hyatt.

Surnames: Hyatt, McKinney
My Hyatt line was from Chester, South Carolina and Edgecombe, North Carolina and was associated with the McKinney family of Chester. They moved to Alabama (Benton & Cherokee County areas) as well as Georgia (Floyd that we know of - possibly others). The name David is very VERY common in our family and has been passed down for generations.

If you have any brothers or cousins who still have the Hyatt surname, they can purchase a DNA test through the Hyatt DNA Project to see whether they match our line or one of the others: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/hyatt

You can by a 12 marker test through the project for about $60 and that should at least give you a basic indication of which line to focus on. The tests can easily be upgraded later to be more specific. The black menu buttons at the top of the page are where you can view the Patriarchs that are currently known (the red #'s correspond to the kit #'s on the Y-Results page). Use the "Order Test" button to join the project and order a test.

My Stauber-Aldrich tree is public and has my line on it and as many branches as I've been able to trace. Feel free to scour it and see if anything fits.
