At Ancestry.com, I found a Henry and Judith Hyams whose info corresponds somewhat to your inquiry -- Henry died in 1852 and Judith was born in Charleston, SC. Other information is not the same -- this Henry died in NC and not New Orleans. Also, Judith is listed as "Judith Hyams," so it raises a question regarding whether this was her maiden name also. If this is the same Henry, he would be the 1st cousin of the Henry Michael Hyams who was the Lt. Gov. of La.
Your question intrigues me because my ancestor -- Samuel Meyers Hyams, Jr. (the brother of the Lt. Gov.) has the "Meyers" in his name. I have never found any reference to a Meyer/Meyers/Mayer in his family tree. I would be very interested in knowing more about this name.
