Surnames: Huxford, Gerard, Gerrard, Jerret, Gerrot
My ancestor, Ann (Nancy?) Huxford was born in Plancentia Bay, Newfoundland 4 July 1740 and married William Gerrard of Gerard Island, Nova Scotia on 3 April 1754 in Christchurch.

The Huxfords and Gerards were reported to be among the early fishery families of Newfoundland. Ann's brother, Thomas, was a major player.

Ann may have been the daughter of Henry Huxford, one of the first three constables in Newfoundland and the sister of Thomas and Mary who married an Ayles.

Ann reportedly removed to Boston to be with her brother, Thomas, when their home on Gerard Island was struck by lightning 4 September 1789 killing William and shocking Ann.

Their sons, John and Henry received a license to occupy Gerard Island 20 November 1802.

Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated.
