Nicholas TROUTWEIN and his wife, Margaret (RUDY) TROUTWEIN, were both born in York County, and there they were married. In 1838 they removed from that county and came to Barree Township in Huntingdon Co., where they purchased a farm. According to RUNK, Nicholas died in 1852, and Margaret in 1882. They were members of the Lutheran church. He was of German descent, and politically was a Whig.
These are the children of Nicholas and Margaret:
1. Daniel TROUTWEIN, 1819-1904, who married Catherine ----, 1824-1885. Their children were: Mary, who married Dallas BUMBARGER, George Samuel, 1854-1928, married Mary Louise HUTCHISON, 1859-1922; and Margaret.
3. Solomon, 1827-1906, married Mary FLEISCHER. Their children: Samuel; Margaret married Harry ORNER; Cora married William R. ORNER, Jr.; Anna Rebecca, 1876-1940, married James MUTHERSBAUGH; Evalyn Alice, 1878-1967, married George W. KOCHER, a county commissioner; John; William; and Ada.
4. Rebecca, married Alexander GETTIS, of Barree Township.
