Elizabeth "Eliza" (Hutchinson) Caldwell (1835 - c. 1861/2) - GA/AL

I'm looking for the parents of Elizabeth "Eliza" Hutchinson, born in 1835 in Georgia and died about 1861 or 1862 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. She had an older sister Amanda who was born in 1834 in Georgia and died about 1853 in either Georgia or Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

Both sisters were wives of Charles Mitchell "Mitt" Caldwell. He was born on January 18, 1831 in Monroe County, Georgia and died on October 12, 1911 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. His parents were Richard Hornbuckle and Harriet Louise (Waller) Caldwell. Through Harriet, Charles was a great-grandson of the semi-famous (Colonel) William and Elizabeth (Anthony) Candler.

Amanda married Charles on December 16, 1849 in Troup County,Georgia. They'd two children who were stillborn, and Amanda is assumed to have died either in or shortly after the birth of the second one. Elizabeth was Charles' second wife. After her death, he would then marry two more times: Mary Ann Elizabeth Dunn as a third wife, then finally Martha Elizabeth Williamson.

My lineal ancestor was Charles and Elizabeth's son William Alexander Caldwell who married Elizabeth Mary "Lizzie" Gates.

If anyone can shed light on this genealogical brick wall, it's be much appreciated! Please feel free to post here or contact me at jacobcarpenter@zoho.com

Jacob Carpenter
jacobcarpenter@zoho.com

Hello ! I have been studying your tree with the HUTCHINSONS.I am in direct contact with the great grandson of Paul Robinson Hutchinson B 1885 HULL.Paul's son Harry b 1907 emigrated and married in 1926 Ontario, CANADA. Harry had a daughter Florence b 1929 - 2003.Her son is STEVEN CARROLL.
By a fluke, Steven's mum in law, Sandy was given an i pad for Christmas and it had a free ANCESTRY ap.She just gave it a try and amazingly only put in her grandparents wedding in Toronto. That connected to my husband's tree.
Sandy is related to my husband. His grandfather in HULL, YORKSHIRE, had a cousin Lionel Gagen who emigrated as a young man to TORONTO.He had twin daughters who are still alive at the age of 88! One daughter had 5 daughters and Sandy is one of those girls.Sandy's daughter is married to Steven Carroll.
We were so delighted to find my husbands relatives. Before we made contact and SKYPED, Sandy had already planned a trip to GB.So we are going to meet up in person this Sep in EDINBURGH !!
My husband's relations are all still in Hull. But we live in SCOTLAND, near DUNBAR E Lothian.
I'm sure Sandy and Steven etc will be pleased to hear from you.
Best Wishes, Jenny
don't know if you are still looking for info on Kittie McIntire. She was my great, great aunt. Born Katherine Thomas McIntire on April 18, 1862 at Sauvie Island, she married Stephen Hutchinson on Nov. 25, 1885. She died in Portland, OR on July 13, 1962. In some of my research, I have a newspaper article about Capt. Reeder who was married to Kitty's daughter, Athlene. Narcissus Marie McIntire was born on March 21, 1894 in Portland and married Marion Henry Hutchinson on Mar 27, 1910. She died on Dec. 8, 1988 in Portland or Rainier. Her father was Robert Emmett McIntire, brother of Kitty. There were ten siblings who were the children of my great, great grandparents, Horace James McIntire and Narcissus Marie Miller who emigrated to Oregon in 1845. The entire family settled on Sauvie Island, although some later moved to southern Oregon.

My line is through a female so other than that I can't offer any help. Margaret born 1796 Va. Siblings include James, Richard, Elizabeth, John and Enoch. She married William Collins and settles in Ohio as did some of her siblings or so I gather from census info.

That was Barbara Cline Hutchinson's line, but I still haven't been able to find her web page. I think I sent her a note on Facebook - we'll have to see if it was the right person.

If you have an opportunity to visit the RELIC library in Northern Virginia (Manassas area), they have much more information in their "Hutchinson" paper file in the library. I was told several years ago by the RELIC librarian someone was working on the Hutchinson lines in that area but have never been close enough to Manassas to visit the library myself to see what progress was made.

Hello D., Thank you for your offer to help people with their Hutchinson lines in England. I am researching Andrew Hutchinson who was born about 1687 in London, England but that place of birth has not been verified. He immigrated to the Colony of Virginia and settled in Westmoreland County where he married Jane Browning in about 1710. They had about eleven children so there are a lot of Hutchinson in the U.S. Where do you live in England?

Daniela Moneta
dmoneta@cox.net

I am interested in the DNA results and want to compare with my cousin's Y-DNA results.

Please email me at dmoneta@cox.net.

Thanks,
Daniela Moneta
Phoenix, Arizona

I don't know if this helps but wasn't Elmira Pathen, the granddaughter of Ezra and Olive Hutchinson, married to a William Woolsey? See: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~woolsey/re...

This Ezra might have been a nephew to Samuel? I am researching the Patchen and Merritt line, and Caroline Patchen married Elisha Merritt, but the page I linked to above spells the last name Merrill.

I'm trying to find the connection as well. I believe a Nancy E. & Martha Hutchinson were adopted into the household of Frederick Cline Jr. in Warren county between 1850 and 1856 (when adoption records started.) They are both Clines in the 1860 census but Hutchesons (census spelling) in the 1850. I have oral history that a great aunt pointed the 1847 headstone of a Nancy R. consort of John Hutchinson and said "that was my ________". Unfortunately her daughter doesn't remember the rest.

I've been trying to figure out why the Clines would adopt a Hutchinson. So they may be related?

I think I talked to you in the past. I have just been told of a biography of Elisha Hutchinson, grgrgr-grandson of Ralph Hutchinson. It says they came from York, England. Here is the link:

http://books.google.com/books?id=IgIRAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA107&a...

This Elisha was the brother of my 4th gr-grandmother, Thankful Hutchinson Huggins. (He was the oldest son of Samuel Hutchinson and Hannah Harmon) I find this biography very interesting. What do you think?

Hutchinsons of Ireland, 1790-1800

My ancestor, William Metcalf, d. 1831, NYC, married Eleanor Thistle Hutchinson ca. 1819. They had 3 children, Eleanor, Anne and William, and Eleanor Thistle died in 1827. In her death notice, Alfred Winans was mentioned, and, according to various trees, he married Mary Ann Hutchison King, a widow, in 1824 in NYC. Alfred Lincoln Winans is said to have migrated from NYC to McKean Co., PA, and then to Topeka, KS. The guardianship papers for Eleanor Thistle's children name Absolom Hutchinson as an uncle. I believe this is the same Absalom Hutchinson of Bradford, McKean Co., PA, who moved there in 1832.

Anne, the daughter, is said to have died shortly after her father. Eleanor married John Deutsch. William, 5 years old, was put under the guardianship of Henry Wiggins and taken to Michigan.

Mary Ann is said to be from Dublin, Ireland; Absalom from Cootehill, Ireland. Eleanor Thistle was from Ireland, b. ca 1798.

Does anyone have any records on the parents of these people? Am I off base in believing that these 3 are siblings? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'd be happy to share what I have.

Carolyn Hoffman

Hutchinsons of Delaware/Humboldt Counties IA

Greetings! I've reached a roadblock and am hoping for some help!

My Grandfather is Harry Leon (Ruby Baack) Hutchinson, born in Delaware County, IA in 1917. He had 7 siblings: Darrel, Erma (Raymond Ostberg), Floyd (Ethel), Alfred (Garnette), Harvey (Mary), Orvilla (Jim Alstott), and Raymond (Elsie).

He told me his parents were Alfred William Hutchinson and Della Mae Cook. I can track Alfred through the 1880/1900/1910/1920 census rolls, but I find his wife listed a Maude A.

Alfred's WWI Draft registration in 1918 lists his nearest relative as Adella Hutchinson.

Is the name "Maude" related to "Adella" in any way? Are these the same people separated by a family nickname? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
