Hi all,
Dorothy England, in her search for her Breeding ancestors, has pointed out a very
interesting document to me. It is a petition dated October 16, 1776, asking for the
end of the established church and for religious freedom. If you look at page 23 of
the document, you will clearly see "Absolom Hirst" and John Hurst (no doubt John
"Mill Creek"), plus William Breeding, Briant Breeding, and Spencer Breding.
Spelling was not an exact science back then. The signatures are in different handwriting,
so this is not a list prepared by one person. Presumably these are actual signatures.
See
http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/ampageI haven't looked at all the pages yet, but I'm found possible signatures of a couple of
other ancestors; not other Hursts so far. Only the odd-numbered pages seem to have
signatures.
