Have you done DNA on any sites? I am related to the Amenia Hurley's I just cannot find which branch my Grandfather came from. My Grandmother always said his name was James Hurley and he died when my mom was a baby. I am not so sure his death was true even though my Grandmother is listed as a widow in the 1940 census. I cannot find where they were married but have found my mom's birth announcement and her birth certificate has his data on it. I spoke to a son of his but they are not receptive to a DNA test at this point. Most likely my Grandmother and James had my mom out of wedlock and tried to cover it up that is my guess at the situation or they married in secret somewhere. Thanks.
