My name is William Boyd and have been trying to place one of my gr gr gr great grandmothers. I have found no documentation on her other then her husband, Oliver Boyd, 1802, of Phelps, Ontario NY. (Info given by LDS ), and that her approx. birth year was 1806. Her name was given as Anna Hurd. She died young, I believe in Genesee county, in the 1830s. Anna had one son and one daughter (no children from daughter), but the son, Henry Boyd b: 1833, named his only daughter Anna Hurd Boyd b/1861.
So it appears Anna was a good name. I tried to find information about our Anna, the only Anna I have found was in 1839 Gorham church records with Elijah Hurd. They were both discharged from that church in 1839, so they were of the same family. but by now, our Anna was name Boyd and with one child.
1850 Gorham census records shows Elijah, b/ 1876 , married to Hannah (this could be Anna from the church records). The reason in could be Anna, is that the 1855 census of the same family shows Anna Hurd as wife to Elijah.
So, how does our Anna possibly connected someway to this family?
I researched Elijah and found out his grandfather, Jedediah, married Abigail Baker. Some records shows this Elijah first married to a Marchant woman, but impossible. The Marchant woman has a recorded death of 1851, the church record shows this Elijah with Anna Hurd in 1839. So Elijah's father married the Marchant woman.
Okay, now for the Baker connection.
Henry Boyd married into the Phillips family of Monroe county, NY I am in possession of the Boyd and Phillips photo album with many old photos, most unnamed. But there is one couple, and I date the photo in the mid 1860s, was taken in Canandaigua, NY. Not much for names on the photos, but it says B & K Baker. Now this is in among the Phillips and Boyd family photos. The couple looks to be in their 30s. So I am assuming the Baker couple is family.
If anyone has any Baker information, or where Anna may place in this family, please let me know. By the way, I have not been able to find the grave of Anna Hurd Boyd, wife of Oliver Boyd. No any marriage records or any records of any sort.
If anyone wants a copy of this photo of B & K Baker, please email me at
wboyd4422@gmail.com and I will be glad to share. If anyone has any Hurd photos from the 1860 - 1890s of this Hurds of Gorham, of kin there of, please share as maybe we can compare some faces.
Lastly, did any Hurds end up in Adrain, Michigan, as I have one photo right next to this one, and I cannot read the writing.
I tried to attach the photo, hope it worked.
