I have been researching the Hurcomb family for several years and I believe that:
1) Most all of the various spellings of the Hurcomb name noted on this site are interchangeable.
2) A main cluster of Hurcombs are recorded in Uley, Gloucestershire, England from the 1600's to the 1800's.
3) The Hurcomb name likely evolved from Welsh origins.
4) Many Hurcombs left Uley for Australia, America and Canada in the mid-1800's.
5) I believe my great-grandfather Thomas Hurcomb was born in Uley in 1809 to Thomas and Harriet (Corsham) Hurcomb. I believe my Thomas came to America as part of the "assisted passage" program in the mid-1800's but have not been able to verify this.
I would encourage you all to share any information or comments you may have on the five items mentioned above. Also please add any more information you may have about the Hurcomb name and family origins.
Thanks, Thomas Hurcomb
