Dear Bonnie -

Forgive me, I did not mean to be misleading. I never claimed that there was a person named Hunnicutt in Jamestowne in its year of origin, 1607. I am persuaded that there are Hunnicutts, descendents of John and his wife, Elizabeth Warren, who can trace their ancestry through her to William Spencer of 1607 Jamestowne.

I should have said "There were Hunnicutts in Colonial Virginia as early as 1650, and perhaps earlier". My grandfather always said 'Hunnicutts in Jamestown in 1652', my source, for what it's worth. Since I have never seen any documentation for this date, I assume family lore. I disclosed the speculative nature of a connection between Augustine and John.

The articles "The Hunnicutts of Prince George County" appearing in William and Mary Quarterly are available through Heritage Quest and from the Newbery Library in Chicago. Surry County Records and Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy are available here on Ancestry.com. Both Surry records and Quaker records were cited by the author (James Cabell) of the articles in W & M Quarterly. And I suggested them in my reply to your request for sources.

The original query stated that the researcher was new to the Hunnicutt line and asked for any information, big or small. I was trying to be both kind and encouraging in my response.
