Hi

I am researching the Sheffield Flood (12th March 1864) and am trying to locate the graves of as many of the victims as possible, with a view to then further researching their family line.

Two members of the HUKIN family, from Neepsend Gardens in Sheffield, were drowned ; Alfred (age 45) and his wife Sarah (45). It was also recorded that 2 children died, one of which may have been a niece called Alice Jackson. Sarah’s body was found the following day at Rutland Road Bridge at Neepsend and both are recorded as being buried at Burngreave. I have not yet managed to find their headstone.

I am currently in touch with a living descendant of the Hukins. Do you, by any chance, think they may also be related to your family line? If so, any information you could supply on your family line would be very much appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you and thanks in anticipation of your reply.

Best Regards
