NEWARK: Leona Wolverton, age 74, of Newark, Ohio passed away at her residence on September 30, 2014.
She was born May 2, 1940 in Thornport, Ohio to the late William H. and Ethel Mae (Scott) Hukill.
Prior to retirement, Leona worked at Jolly Pirate Donuts for over 25 years.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, gambling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by six children, Terry Vannest, Pam (Skip) Laughery, Christina (Steve) Black, Rod Thompson, Paul Thompson and Tony (Linda) Wolverton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Hester (Larry) Sharkey; nephew, Michael (Julie) Sharkey; nieces, Linda (Robert) Murph and Trisha Woodring; and three special friends, Kathy (Don) Wilson, Betty Fitch and Leroy Vannest.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roderick Wolverton, in 1994; and one son, Michael Wolverton.
At her request, there will be no service or calling hours observed.
