My GGG Grandfather, Benedict Huke came to America around 1829. He came on a ship from Berne Switzerland. The surname on the orginal census was spelled Huke. It has also been spelled Hucke, Huckey, Hookey, Huke, and Hukey. I believe it has Huguenot origin. There are very few that seem to carry the surname. I would be interested in any help you can offer. There are a large number of Hucke's in the Philadelphia region, that were here long before my ancestor, however, I have been unable to connect them.
