I saw your message from 2005 about Charles Wesley Hughes. Charles would be my Great Great Grandfather. His son George Arthur was my Great Grandfather. I have uploaded a lot of the family tree on the ancestry site. Would like to exchange information. I have my Great Grandparents George Arthur and Emma Read Farthing Hughes children all logged on ancestry. They raised their family in the St Paul, MN area.

I have an Elizabeth Morrey, dob not known. Her parents were Thomas Cheetham Morrey (dob Abt. 1773 in Lancashire, Eng) and Mary Haughton (dob unknown) and they were married about 1795 in Stockport, Cheshire, Eng. Thomas's grandparents were born in Over, Cheshire, Eng. I do not know if there is a connection here or not, and if this is YOUR Elizabeth Morrey or not. I do not have a husband named for her. IF this is the correct Elizabeth, I could give you her ancestry, but that's about all.
Hope this helps.
Reply to CA.Gen.girl@gmail.com

There must be some family out there related to William Hughes (stone mason/brick maker)(1830-1903) who married Kate ? (1830-1888) and had Margaret Hughes Cressman (1853-1891), Sallie Hughes ? (1857 - ), Kate Hughes Allender (1864-1917)(Allentown), Fanny Elliott (1871 - 1872). All born in Philadelphia, PA. First find William in 1870 Census in Philadelphia. There is a Samuel Hughes (1847-1918) married to Elizabeth Stewart (1849-1884). Don't know where William came from his death cert indicates Virginia with father from Virginia or his wife's maiden name and birth? She died in New Jersey. Any connection to any of this?

Most of the family came from Carolinas in late 1700's through GA to AL and some went to MS and TX. I have a couple of John HUGHES' as well.

Re: Hughes - Donegal Ireland

please explain-- Do you want my Mary's husbands last name or what?
I did not understand the question . His name was Joseph Hughes.
I did find out Joseph's parents names that was on the death certificate of Joseph's youngest Brother William , who immigrated 1847 from Ireland to America. William was born 1834 Ireland.
On William's death certificate it says -- the parents names where Margaret Pierson and H. Hughes from Ireland .
Now, the spellings could be wrong for Margaret as she is listed as Margarethe on one census and Margarette on another , but on the death certificate for William it says Margaret Pierson Ireland.
Also, Pierson could be spelled different in Ireland --not sure --just know that it was spelled Pierson on her son's death certificate.
I can't get to Ireland because I don't have enough information, but I assume that H. Hughes died in Ireland during famine. because Margaret Pierson Hughes came to America as widow.
H. Hughes and Margaret Pierson had the following children--
Joseph born around 1828 or 1829 Ireland died in Iowa 1878 buried there too
John know that he was born in Ireland , but i can't find him in America yet.
I am guessing that he lived part in Mo.and Iowa.
George Know he was born in Ireland, but can't find him yet. I am guessing he lived in Iowa and maybe sometime in MO.
William the youngest born 1834 Ireland and died around 1819 at daughters home and buried in Delta , Co. He was born in Ireland 1834 and came to America 1847, but have not been able to get immigration papers or ship.
Let me know what you need.
According to one census; Margarethe was 70 in 1860 which would make her born in Ireland about 1870.
I don't know what H. Hughes would be in Ireland either. It could just be H. Hughes or Henry, or Hugh or Harry or etc. but on the William's death certificate it list his father as H. Hughes. Ireland.

Do you have a Thomas Llewellyn Hughes born abt 1854 who married Harriet Parry born abt 1857? They had 8 children, William Thomas, Thomas John, Annie, Richard, Jane, Maggie, Llewellyn Thomas and Goronwy. I'm trying to find out who was Harriet's parents. If it was Thomas Parry and Jane Thomas then she is the sister to my great grandfather. Look forward to your response. Thank you.

Re: Hugheses from SC

Oh, my gosh, I think you may have the clue to breaking down one of my most stubborn brick walls!

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was Blancet (spelled various ways: s/c, i/e, 1 or 2 t's) Sanders, born about 1774 in Orangeburgh District, SC. His wife was Sarah Hughes, about the same age. I've never been able to find out who her parents were. Blancet & Sarah moved to the "boot" of Louisiana around 1811 (they're found on the census for Orangeburgh in 1800 with 1 male child under 10 & 1 female child under 10, but I can't find them in 1810, so I suspect they were in transit).

Blancet's father Thomas was recorded as owning property in the same area you describe (specifically, near Robert's Swamp). Thomas' other known children were: William, Cullen, Wilson, Allen, John, Thomas, Celia. Some went to SE LA (so did several other Orangeburgh area families), and some stayed and have descendants that are still found in Colleton County and Charleston County, SC.

Blancet & Sarah had: Charity, Daniel (my line), Rebecca, Allen, William, Henry, Sarah, Cullen, Clarissa, Jesse, Thomas. It's especially interesting to see the names Daniel and Rebecca in your post, since I have only seen them in Blancet's line of this Sanders family.

I would love to find definitive proof that Sarah Hughes, wife of Blancet Sanders, was related to (daughter of?) John Hughes & Sarah Quash. I wonder if you know more about Sarah Sanders, wife of William Hughes - do you know who her parents were?

Jeanie
