I have a grandfather on my fathers side who was named
Cecil Hughes. He was married to Ada Gordon.
they had several children, anda son named Jack Walton who was my father.
Any of these names familiar?
My father was born in Bixby OK, in 1924/25.

Where was your grandfather originally from before he was in Bixby,OK? And also his parents?
My mother was born in Bixby,OK. Her parents were Josie NICHOLS, born Arkansas and Miles Griffin born, Sparta,Wis.
Her grandparents were Lavina HUGHES and Joseph NICHOLS.
I am trying to trace the Nichols-Hughes line to my mother, Annie Lavina Griffin Carrier. My husband is a HUGHES from
Illinois-Pennsylvania family line.

My Grandmother who was born as AdaBell Sheppard in Louise,Ms on Feb. 28,1893 married twice, first to George Washington Welch who was a railroad man and they had 3 living children together, Raymond Beauregard Welch who was born on July 26, 1909, Maggie Elizabell Welch who was born Sept.15,1908 I think(She died as Helen P Buckner in 1999 in NY), and O'Dell L. Welch who was born in Russellville,Alabama on Jan. 26,1919 or 1920. They had another daughter, Viola Henrietta Welch who died of scarlett fever at age 2 or 3. Ada and G.W. Welch divorced and she married William (Willie) Gordon who was from Augusta, Ga.
She had my mother, Dorothy Mae Gordon in Charleston,SC on Sept. 12,1927. She and Willie Gordon divorced also.
My husband has some Hughes in his family lines, and all his Crawfords are from the lower area of SC. Your Ada is apparently a different Ada Gordon. God Bless. Janice C.
