William is 31 and mother Sophie is 27. George has an older brother named William Schneider, age 6. Sophie’s brother, Joseph Mosel, is living with the family. Joseph Mosel is age 20 years old. They are living in Yonkers Ward 1, Westchester, New York. In 1910 is two years old. His father is a wine agent in Yonkers, New York, where the family lives.

He was adopted by Lawrence Hueber and wife Clara Rink between 1910- 1920. In 1900, Lawrence Hueber was a carpenter in Bronx, New York. In 1910, Lawrence Hueber was a Hotel Bartender in Bronx, NY. In 1910, his adopted parents are married, but have no children at 33 and 32 years old. Lawrence says that his parents are from Germany.

The New York census says that George’s parents were both born in New York, likely referring to his adopted parents. They owned a radio.
He had a New York SS N issued before 1951. His SS # was 107-07-6943.
He was an alcoholic. Grandson, Lawrence Hueber, says that when he died, the family found bottles everywhere in the house. His last residence was Fort Worth, Tarrant, Texas, United States. He died on Aug 2nd of 1979.

He is a wine agent in Yonkers, New York, where the family lives. They are renting a home.

According to the New York Passenger Lists, he arrived in the United States on April 12, 1893, being born about 1876. He is listed as “Wm Schneider”. He was a male from Germany. The ship, named Pennland originated from Port Antwerp. He was 17 years old when he traveled alone by ship to America. He could read and write. He worked as a laborer in Germany as a “cottonweiler”. He was headed to New York. He stayed in the compartment of the ship labeled “Four H”. There is only one other person in this compartment. He is listed on the ships passenger list beside him. The relationship between the men is unknown. His compartment mate’s name is William Scheil. He is from Germany and headed to New York as well. His sixteen year-old compartment mate, William Scheil, is a laborer in “unterierwessiach”.


Sophie Mosel
She was born in Bohemia Germany or Poland;Australia in 1883. She came to the United States in 1887.
In 1900, she was living with her parents and brother Joseph in Yonkers Ward 6, Westchester, New York. Her parents are: John and Catherine Mosel. Also living with the family is John and Catherine’s other children. Sophie appears to be the oldest child. The other children are William 13, John 8, and Edward 6. Sophie is 18 and brother Joseph is 10. Though a later census says that brother Joseph was born in Germany. This one states that he was born in New york, along with all the other siblings except sister Sophie. In 1900, the family rents a home in Yonkers, NY. The family is from Poland;Australia. They are living next door to numerous other Polish families from Poland/ Austr. They are the Klein, Beick, and Weiss families. Sophia and her two parents are tailors for Men’s Clothing. They all read, write, and Speak English. They are renting a home. The four boys have all attended school for the last 7 years, except the youngest who has been attending for three years. Her mother, Catherine has lost one child by 1900. Only five of the six children born are still alive.
She married William Scheidner and had two children, George and William Schneider. William was the oldest son. They were four years apart in age. She had a younger brother named Joseph born in 1890. In 1910, her brother Joseph Mosel was a draughtsman at the statuary in New York.

Catherine Mosel
She was 20 years old when she married her husband, John Mosel. On 12 Apr 1884, Catherine (“Cathra”) and her daughter Sophie ( joined husband John Mosel in the United States in New York state. Daughter Sophie was three years old when her mother brought her to America. They came over on the ship named Lessing that departed from Hamburg, Germany and Le Havre, France. She was from Bohemia. Sophie’s name before she got to the United States was “Vailas.” Sophie’s brother that died before 1900 census was named “Jesan”. They stayed in compartment B or R.
