LIBERTY - A prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church, for Rudolph P. Hudak, 94, who passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, with the loving aide of Senior Independence Hospice.

Rudolph was born on Jan. 17, 1921, in Czechoslovakia, and was a son of John and Katarina Kacik Hudak.
He came to the United States as a child.

He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and served in the military as a radio operator for the Air Corps during World War II.

Rudolph had fond memories and a strong pride regarding his time in the military and often spoke about his travels during that time.
Rudolph married Irene Bernice Kramer on Sept. 25, 1943, at the Holy Name Church.

After their marriage, they moved to the South side of Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) where they raised their two children.
Following his time in the military, Rudolph was an electrician and in January of 1967, became a certified electrical inspector for the State of Ohio.

In July of 2007, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union awarded him with the 60-Year Member Award.
He worked for Dickey Electric and Beil Electric off and on throughout his career.
Rudolph was an active member of St. Matthias Church.
Irene and Rudolph were also awarded the “Multi-tasking” M.V.P.’s Award in 2007, from the American Slovak Cultural Society of the Mahoning Valley.
They often enjoyed many of the Slovak customs with family and friends.
He was a member of the John J. Budkey Post No. 1292 and enjoyed the company of its members.
His hobbies included stamp and coin collecting, volleyball, golf, and working in the yard. He and Irene participated in square dancing and were part of a card group for over 65 years.
He was also a first chair violinist for Youngstown Symphony.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his children, Lawrence “Rick” Hudak of Boardman and Lora Ezzo-Babich of Pittsburgh; and three wonderful grandchildren, Gregory Ezzo of Youngstown, Kimberly Ezzo of Raleigh, N.C., and Nicholas Ezzo of Youngstown, all of whom he loved dearly; as well as his sister’s daughters, whom he enjoyed spending time with.

Other than his parents, Rudolph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene, who passed away Aug. 17, 2012; two brothers, John Hudak Jr. and Joseph J. Hudak; and a sister, Margaret E. Deemer.
The Hudak family entrusted the care of Rudolph to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home, where they will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Senior Independence Hospice for their loving care and dedication to Rudolph since October of 2014.
They would also like to express gratitude to his four caregivers who enabled him to remain in his home during his final months.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the Senior Independence Hospice or the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra in his memory.
