BOARDMAN - Mary Magdalena Hudak, 66, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday evening, Oct. 14, 2014, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio. (Mahoning County)
Mary was born May 26, 1948, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Silverio and Guadalupe Serrano Cruz Burgos, and came to the area as a child.
She was a 1966 graduate of Chaney High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art from Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio.
She worked as an educational assistant with the Youngstown City Schools, and had previously worked at Lucianno’s Restaurant in Austintown, Ohio.
Mary was passionate about photography and art, and was a master gardener who volunteered her time and talents at Fellows Riverside Gardens.
Mrs. Hudak enjoyed keeping busy and spending time with her family.
She was a good wife and mother who loved her husband, children, and family dearly.
She will be truly missed by all who loved her. Mary leaves her husband, Lawrence “Rick” Hudak; three children, Robert L. Taylor Jr., stationed with 8th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Carolyn S. Wooten of Boardman, Ohio and Tracy M. Taylor of Boardman, OH; five grandchildren, Morgan, Crysta, Bryce, Taylor, and Zoe; siblings Joe (Kim) Medina of California, Carlos (Debbie) Burgos of North Jackson, William (Verde) Burgos of California, Sylvia (Steve) Toombs of Vienna, and Linda (Tom) Dugan of Youngstown, OH; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A brother, John Cruz, is deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 17, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.
