This post is old, but hope someone will read my new post (2005).
I noticed that Ng Chee Tiong/s pinyin name is Huang Zhi Zhong. Mine is Huang2 Zhi4 Xiang2. I don't know how to explain Zhi written, but it's the one that the top part of the "word" has 2 horizontal strokes across, and 1 down, and the bottom part is the chinese character for "heart" (xing).
If it's similar to yours, then my next question would be , is your father's middle name Teck? I am 2nd generation Wong born in Sibu, Sarawak, East Malaysia. I'm supposed to give my male child middle name of "Si4" which is supposed to be the next family middle name in line.
My grandfather's is Huang2 Ren2 Zhu3 (i do not know the chinese form), but I am told he is one of many children from the Huang Family who came from the North because of war to the village of "Man Ching" or "Man Jing" in the Fujian Province. He's dialect is foochow, which unfortunately I cannot speak fluently.
Rumor has it when grandpa's father passed away, and his mother remarried, he decided to cut off his pigtail, hopped on the junk(old chinese sailing ship) and headed for Sibu, Sarawak. He proceeded to do quite well in Sibu and had 16 or 18 children, with my father Huang2 De4 Qen2 being the youngest.
I would love to find out more about foochow Huangs from that village of Man3 Qing4 of the Fujian province, if there be such a village, and who my ancestors were.
I guess I'm both the yellow and king Huang cuz my mum's an Ong (king version of Huang), and hence my father's lineage of Wong (yellow Huang).
Any infos would be appreciated!
