Hello David,
I saw your message in my guestbook.
Your family's achievements in Canada is impressive. Well, my family has been in Brunei for 67 years but most of our family members are still "Stateless". My eldest cousin and I are the only two Bruneian citizens in the family. I only got my citizenship four years ago. Hopefully, our family fortune will change in the future :p
If you look at the map of Huang migration in South China at the link below you will see that Gangzhou Branch (descendants of Huang Tao 黄滔 840-911) of the Huang Clan had established themselves around the Pearl River Delta, including Kaiping.

To be sure, you need to contact your relatives in China and try to get a copy of your Clan Genealogy. You can scan it to me or post me a photocopy so I can help you confirm which of the four main Huang branches do you belong to. I have helped several clansmen this way but there are some which I couldn't confirm.
Regards,
Erik
