Hi:

I just came across your post. My father is Michael Hrabovsky and his parents were Michael and Mary Hrabovsky who immigated to Canada from Slovakia in the 1920's. I am sure that there is some connection there. My grandfather has a sister who's married name was Mary Simko from the Pittsburgh area.

Hello Michael, The spelling of your surname is exactly like what we have in our Slovakian family. Let me give you some information and see if we can connect. Do any of these names sound familiar? Anna Ulrich, Maria Ulrich who married a Hrabovsky, Antonia Gattermajer (Jahrmajer), Thomas Fridrich, Maria Leisek, Ammerstein, Svarc (Schwarz), these names could have various spelling. My family live now in the Slovak Republic near Trencin Teplice and Bobot. If you wish, please email me direct and I will give you more information on the Hrabovsky side.

Hello, I am looking for aunt of my grandmother. Her name was Maria/Mary Hrabovsky/Hrabovska and all we know is that she left for USA in the beginnig of 1900 from Sziplak/Krasna. She also had daugther Julia. We found some postcards that she sent to my great grandmother, but all we could read is that they were sent from Bridgeport.

I would appeciate any information about them

Dear Lenka,
I will give you any information that I have gathered on the Hrabovsky family. Do you have a guess as to Maria's date of birth? The postcards that you have are from Bridgeport. Where is Bridgeport?
I sent a previous post but my e-mail address wouldn't print on the message. My e-mail address: nancwood@earthlink.net
See if this works to send me a direct message.

This may be a wild goose chase, but my grandmother, who went by Mary Rabovsky (but it was spelled Hrabovsky in the early days here)immigrated to Bridgeport, CT around 1905. She supposedly immigrated with her young daughter (Barbara)to meet up my my grandfather Dorafay who arrived in Bridgeport in 1902. My understanding is that they immigrated from what is now the Ukraine (just outside of Kiev). I have had a hard time tracking down their immigration records, but have found some census records. Could this be the same person you are looking for. Interesting that both in Bridgeport about the same time.
