HOUSER of PA/MD/DC

Classification: Query
Surnames: Houser, Davis, Howser, Hauser
I am attempting to find more information about my great-grandmother, EVELINA HOUSER, who married Benjamin Franklin DAVIS.

Evelina was supposed born in Bedford Co., PA about 1877 and later died in either DC or MD in 1951. Evelina married Benjamin F DAVIS (b 1869 in Cumberland, MD, d 1933 in DC). Together, they ran Lockhouse #16 on the C&O Canal near Georgetown, Washington, DC up until the mid-1920's.

I am trying to find information about Evelina's family. She may have been 1/2 or 1/4 of Sioux heritage. Family lore has it that her father or grandfather may have been an Army scout, that he may have married a Sioux maiden, and possibly have been killed during a Sioux massacre.

Houser may have alternate spellings of Howser, Hauser, etc.

If anyone has information about this branch of the Houser family, I would really appreciate it. I am totally stumped on Evelina Houser's family.
