Marie Josephe Ory - Frenchtown, Spencer Township, Harrison County, Indiana

Marie Josephe Ory - Frenchtown, Spencer Township, Harrison County, Indiana

Hello,

I am trying to verify with (sources, book and page numbers, etc.) my Great-Great-Great Grandmother's death date, death place, and burial place. Her name was Marie Josephe (Ory) Pinaire. Please would anyone be able to give me a source for one of the dates I have found and list here? Marie's death dates and places that I have are 11 July 1862, Frenchtown, Spencer Township, Harrison County, Indiana and 11 July 1862, Georgetown, Floyd County, Indiana. Also, would anyone know for sure the date or range of dates and what county court Marie's probate occurred -- book and page numbers?

I have made progress in gathering sources via the internet but live far from Indiana and Harrison County records. Also, I have contacted Indiana State Library, but they are hesitant to look up records for copying without source page numbers. We have an LDS Branch Library but it is open very limited hours. I have purchased the "Pinaire Family History" Book by Waneta Shoup Mehaffey published in 2009 that is informative but I feel I need more sources cited that I can search for verification.

I see by previous posts to message boards and the book, there may be a Pinaire Bible owned by folks in Harrison County. Also, the Pinaire Book names a Frank Jones, of Nashville, Tennesse and a Frank Pinaire of Idaho as providers of information. Would anyone know, how or where, or who I might contact for more information to reach these folks? Perhaps, someone might suggest a researcher I might hire who lives in Corydon who would search courthouse and/or libraries in the area.

Thank you so very much for letting me ramble on and on. I truly do appreciate any help anyone may give me.

Sorry it took so long to answer this query, but I just ran across it again. This is what I know. My great great grandfather was Samuel and his wife Phyllis were sold on the slave block in Charlston the year I am not sure of. I can only account for 5 born children and their names, I know there were more. My great grandfather was the second eldest. His name was Nathaniel, he married an Indian/Irish mixed woman named Georgiana Victoria O'Day. I have pictures of her.
they had 12 children which my grandmother was one. Her name was also Phyllis, she had 7 children which my mother was the second eldest. I can provide names of Georgiana's children. Please e-mail me with any questions and any info that you have. There are 3 unpublished books on the Horry's that Dr. Kate Horry -Graves wrote regarding this part of the Horry family, she was the youngest daughter of Nathaniel and Georgiana. Thanks so much.
Horry, Daniel and Elias Horry

The marriage bond of Daniel Horry is recorded in the Court of Ordinary of S C (1672-1692). The bride to be was Elizabeth Garnier. A transcription of the bond appeared in the Transactions of the Huguenot Society of SC, No 32, 1927. The same issue had the will of Elias Horry. The will was proved 29 Sept 1736. The same publication had a transcription of an Elias Horry mural tablet on the wall of the Huguenot Church of Charleston S C.

I am not researching this family. I saved this issue from the dust bin and will mail it (from NC) to a person with an interest in the Horry family. Postage cost would be appreciated. Contact me privately with mailing address

Need info on the French Horrys

My line goes all the way back to Paris and Charenton sur Cher France. Jean Horry married Madelaine DuFresne ( I have seen alternate spellings) and supposedly had 2 children survive (I cant verify this though) named Daniel and Elias. It was through this Daniel b. @1660-62 who married Elizabeth Fanton Garnier b. @1675 that my particular Horry side ended up in SC. My ancestor on my father's side Joseph Prince b. @ 1715 in VA was married to Daniel's daughter Elizabeth Mary(e) Horry who had a son named Nicholas Prince b. @1738 in NC.

If anyone has any info on Jean Horry's parents I would love it!

Thanks!
