In a pile of old papers I have found a photo of Annie Horrocks stood in front of a very grand gravestone. I can't read the stone on that one but in front of it there is another stone which reads

"in memory of John Horrocks who gave his life for King and Country March 2nd 1916 Erected by his fellow workers from Tiviot Colour Works"

If anybody has a connection with this family I would be happy to scan and send it to them

Following up my own post - this has to be John Horrocks from the CWG website:

HORROCKS , JOHN Rifleman R/5862 02/03/1916 20 King's Royal Rifle Corps United Kingdom J. 4609. STOCKPORT (WILLOW GROVE) CEMETERY

Parents:

Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Horrocks, of 107, Old Rd., Heaton Norris, Stockport.

Hope that helps somebody to find him!

Hey do you know his parents first names by any chance. Cause I'm related to John Horrocks born in 3/27/1768 in london and died in 3/4/1801 wroth 250,000 dollars back then. Married Mary Lomax? You can take a look at my family tree if you want. I've got alot of info on the horrocks but always need more. Thanks

I don't think I have any connection with this family - I was just hoping to help somebody by sending them a copy of the photo.

I looked on the CWGC website and found and posted the details shown on there which show the parents as:

Parents:

Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Horrocks, of 107, Old Rd., Heaton Norris, Stockport

This would be a John Horrocks a couple of generations on from your John and in a different area

Hi Kayla,

Saw your posting while looking for info on a Matthew Horrocks, born about 1815 in Wigam. Lancashire, England, married Ellen Elizabeth Story in 1842. I also have a John Horrocks and Mary Lomax in my tree. Just wondering if you have any info on Matthew Horrocks. His children were Matthew, John (my great grandfather), William H., and Eleanor. Believe that all children settled in Lansing, Edmond area of West Virginia (my birthplace). Any info you have will greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Barbara Bekooy
