I am the gg-granddaughter of Laura Bell Hooke, b. 11-27-1863 d. 4-4-1903 (m. Arthur Lee Kemper). Laura Bell was the 13th child born to Col. William W. Hooke (b. 2-5-1818 d. 3-23-1904) and Maria Jane Dunn. (sources - Virginia Valley Records by John W. Wayland, 1930 and my grandmother's filed application for membership to the United Daughter's of the Confederacy). It is very interesting to find so many ancestors who served during the various conflicts. One that stands out was William's 2nd child, Robert Hooke -b. 1-7-1840 d. 9-13-1861 in a hospital at Fairfax Courthouse, VA after the battle of Bull Run - Buried at Cross Keys, VA.
