I realize this post was written a few years ago, but this info seems to connect some info i have in my family tree.

I have a Jasper Hood who lived with my granfather Aundos Hood family at some times. Jasper was Aundos Uncle.Jasper would be my great Uncle

This Jasper Hood i have married to a Martina or Martha Stratton.

Jasper family i have is:
Jasper bro and sister: Jake Hood(my great grandfather), Meadia Hood, and
COrdelia Hood
Jasper parents: John Hood and Elmira Golden( my great great grandparents)
any info, or questions just let me know

William Hood / Sarah (Sally) E. McCall?

I'm hoping someone out there is researching this same Hood family line. This is what I have so far;

William Hood b. abt 1796, d. 19 May 1846, Greene County Missouri. Married Sarah (Sally) E. McCall? 28 Oct 1817 in McMinn County, Tennessee. Sarah b. 1797 In North Carolina, d. 01 Mar 1894, Greene County, Missouri. It seems possible that Sarah was a McCall. She migrated with John McCall's family and she named her first born son Duncan. Sarah also named a son Marquis L. as did John McCall of Missouri. Nelson McCall was the minister who married most of her children and he was involved in her husband's estate settlement.

These families must have lived very close to the border of Monroe County, Tennessee as William and his young family were members of the Pond Creek Baptist Church there. William joined in March, 1833. In February of 1836, letters of dismissal were issued to William, Sarah and Duncan Hood. William lived in a neighborhood in McMinn County that moved, almost intact, to southwest Greene County, Missouri.

i. Duncan Hood, b. 22 Oct 1818, McMinn County, TN.; d. 01 Mar 1849, Greene County, MO., m. Nancy Ellen L. Blades 21 Feb 1841, Greene County, MO. Nancy was b. 04 Feb 1824 in McMinn County, TN; d. 18 Mar 1887, Greene County, MO.

ii. Catharine J. Hood, b. 1823, McMinn County, TN; d. 1880, Henry County, MO; m. ca. William Blanchard.

iii. Nancy Ann Hood, b. Apr 1824, McMinn County, TN; d. 01 Mar 1894; m. 28 Jan 1847, Greene County, MO; Isaac T. Blades.

iv. William J. Hood, b. ca. 1827, McMinn County, TN; m. 31 Aug 1849, Lawrence County, MO; Clarissa Martha Jones, b. ca. 1833 in KY.

v. Amos H. Hood, b. ca. 1828, TN; m. 11 Feb 1847 in Greene County, MO, Cynthia C. Blades.

vi. Mary A. Hood, b. ca. 1829, TN.

vii. Eliza A. Hood, b. ca. 1832, TN.

viii. Sarah M. Hood, b. ca. 1834, TN.

ix. Marquis Lafayette Hood, b. ca. 1837, MO.

x. Rebecca Hood, b. ca. 1840, MO.

I have a lot of information on my great, great, grandfather Duncan Hood's line that I would be willing to share.

I am trying to find the ancestors of William Hood and John McCall and where they came from. Anyone having information on them please contact me.

I'm new to the board but I'm looking for information on the Hoods. My 2nd great grandfather came from Virgina in 1857 to Indiana.His name was John T. Hood ,he married Martha Ann Fisher in 1866 in Indiana.His father Royal could be Robert married Biddy Pully in 1836 ,Virginia.I've got alot of questions that need answers just need to find them.I thought maybe you could help.my e-mail is larry.m@sasktel.net My name is Wendy Mann I'm from Canada,my grandfather was a Hood from Mexico,Indiana.

My son's great-grandfather was Jasper Hood. He lived in OK and was mail delivery (rural)and postmaster in Kiowa. I met him briefly before he died (1960's). His wife was Martha and their daughter was Frances Beth. I haven't found any other related "Hoods". I believe the family may have been from Arkansas, Alabama, or Texarcana. (before OK) I do remember those being mentioned when Martha passed.. She had been a school teacher. Possible maiden name was Stratton.
