Hello Pat, as your inquire was from 2003 - I hope you are still interested in this Hooberry branch... I have no idea ( at this stage of my investagations) if Orville is a relative, but here are some facts about my Father's family -

My father, Charles Richard/Robert? Hooberry. He died on Feb. 17, 1943. I was born on June 20 of 43 - So I only had some stories about him. His plane crashed ( I was told, on it's last training flight before going overseas ) in Beadle Co. South Dakata. He was a member of the 18th SQDN of the 34th BG, I believe out of Ellsworth Air Base, near Rapid City & Pierre S.D. (I am working on more information - )
His parents were Andrew Jackson & Olive Hooberry The 1930 census of Detroit (Edgevale Ave. ) shows him born in 1920 ( other info says 1921 ) . Andrew was born 1898, WWI vet. They Married when he was 21 & she 16, both were from Tennessee & list both my father & his 1 year younger sister as being born in Tennessee as well. It does show Ollive as born in KY. In a 1920 census I found Andrew & wife Ollie living in Nashville, ward 17, Davidson, TN He -23 she - 19, no children.
I know my mother , Bette Jean (Charmichel) & Charles visited St. Louis ( I'm looking into if they were Married there ) but this was at least a trip to visit family ( I think Andrew's brother Charles & wife Ada, which shows them living on Jefferson Ave. )
I had a lot of contact with Andrew & Olive ( although they divorced ) when I was young ( I am looking into her death date, I think it was in the late 50's , he died in 1963 - I remember going to the funeral. I know I should have asked more questions - just never seemed important !! My mother died in 1981 at age 59, her mother had died 2 1/2 years before - soooo, no one to ask now ! ! ! I did find one of Andrew's relation lived in Hendersonville, TN & last year on my way to Florida I visited some friends there & called the only Chance listed ( he was B. Green Chance, who gave me a New Testament in 1951, stamping it with name & address ) I called several times & left messages - never any answer of a live person... ??)
