I have some more info. There seems to be little consistency in the spelling of MATTHEWS in the records. The family were non-conformists, which may help when searching records.

JOSEPH HOLLIS was my 4xG Grandfather. He was baptised on 29 Sep 1765 at Ellesmere. He married SARA MATTHEWS on 29 July 1792 at Prees. SARA MATTHEWS was daughter of JOHN MATTHEWS and SARAH, she was baptised on 23 Oct 1774. I can't find if there was any relation between SARA MATTHEWS and her mother-inlaw JANE
