Hilda Richard Spell, 85, of Alvin passed away on September 24, 2011. Hilda was born on December 1, 1925 in Eunice, Louisiana to parents, Earvin and Gloria (Milligan) Richard. Hilda married Clyde Joseph Spell on July 18, 1945 in Rayne, Louisiana. She moved from Louisiana to Spring Branch in 1966 and then to Alvin in 1981. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and gardening but her greatest love was her family and spending time with them. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Spell on September 17, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her father, Earvin Richard Sr.; mother, Gloria Welch; and her brother, Earvin Richard Jr. She is survived by her children: Carolyn Walker and husband James of Alvin, Rodney Spell and wife Kathy of Alvin, and Cathy Ater of Spring Branch; sisters: Sadie Shuff and husband J.R., Dorothy Pettifield, Reva Sargent, and Alberta Lollar and husband Don; grandchildren: Carl Joseph and wife Beverly, Christine and husband Travis, Carol Jean, Allison and husband Tommy, and Robert and wife Audrey; great-grandchildren: Ashly, Matthew, Kyle, Nathan, Brett, Josh, Taylor, Cheyenne, Bobby, Shelby, Michael and Brooke; as well as numerous other family members and friends. Visitation was held on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Froberg Chapel. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Froberg Chapel with Rev. Linda Snow officiating. Interment was at Houston National Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Froberg Funeral Home. (Alvin Sun-Advertiser 2 Oct 2011)

Note: I can't verify that Hilda is a Hoffpauir descendant, but her late husband has many Hoffpauirs in his ancestry.
